BALMAIN'S NEW KIDS' COLLECTION REPORTEDLY INCLUDES $6,000 DRESS

Every army needs fresh recruits, even the Balmain Army!
Fresh off the heels of its blockbuster H&M collaboration, Balmain tweeted on Monday that it will be releasing a children's collection in June  — along with a picture of four beautiful kids in sharp blazers with large gold buttons, skinny pants and gold-tipped boots.

Further images reveal more "riffs on house classics," as explained in a statement from the brand, including Japanese-denim jeans, quilted perfectos, thick cabans, double-breasted coats, white tux jackets, fur coats, embroidered cavalry jackets and zebra-patterned tops.

Finally, North West will have a proper ready-to-wear collection to take her from playdate to (a charter) plane.

Creative director Olivier Rousteing oversaw the production of the collection in-house instead of licensing it out to a childrenswear company like many similar brands do.
Children Worldwide Fashion, for example, is a French licensee that produces children's collections for Chloe, Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs.

But just because the collection is for kids doesn't mean it will be much more accessible than the main line. The 55-piece collection for boys and girls ages six to 14 will range in price from €190 (about $206) for a sleeveless T-shirt to €5,500 (about $5,970) for an embroidered dress.  Yes, you read that correctly.

Though it makes sense for the dress to be priced similarly to one from the main line (like this velvet mini, originally $4,000) since it will probably be the same length.
